When two future love birds meet for the first time, there has to be an impact: negative or positive. As interesting as external forces-embittered ex or controlling parents-are the internal questions that haunt each character privately: Do I love him?
There are exceptions to every rule.
If so, why? It's not easy. The problem with romance plot tropes is they often ring untrue.
But they keep coming back to it because, down the road, they may get something back through this unique other person that is far more valuable. Gone with the Wind.
This wouldn't make sense in real life; you don't start a relationship with someone you are attracted to by immediately getting into a fight with them.
